Welcome back to my blog, hope you are enjoying my journey of improving my media skills. Today I will focus on researching the types of feature article designs and their purpose.
Feature article is form of article writing that gives more depth to topic or a person. It generally deals with so many details that is typically longer than the hard news stories. It go beyond of including facts but present the content in a compelling manner. This not just include facts about the topic but instead adds a dimension of human interests. Unlike the new writing, the feature article writing is ever green as it’s information can be valid after time of publication even after 1 year. Many of the writers believe that this is pleasure reading while it informs the readers. Feature article could cover many topics but the most common are as followed. Examples of feature stories include news features, in-depth profiles, human interest stories, science communication, data storytelling, background research , descriptions, quotations and personal interviews
There are many different type of feature article design, of which some of them are listed below:
PHOTO-HEAVY DESIGN
This kind of design is rich with large number of images to illustrate the feature article and create some kind of visual interest for the readers. Reader are much more interested in reading when they have colorful images in front of them.
LONG-FORM NARRATIVE DESIGN
This is a type of feature article design which mainly concentrates on one story that would be covered in-depth over many pages. It might includes interview and personal stories. This type of article usually consists of non-linear structure to keep the reader engaged.
PROFILE DESIGN
This is a kind of article that feature some particular individual that might be a popular person or some kind of celebrity. Such a person can be a athlete, politician, business man, actor, musician, or a social activists. The article would focus on the life of the individual.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
An instructional design is mainly focused on teaching the readers about how to do something such as crafts or any kind technique. This article can go in length in explaining all the steps and might include special tips from the experts.
INVESTIGATIVE DESIGN
This is article design which is text intensive as it aims to highlight some kind of social issue or problem. It might includes extensive research, interviews, analysis, charts, and facts which could helps in solving the issue.
